The profession "Fachkräfte für Metalltechnik" (skilled metal worker) is divided into various branches of study. At our school we teach
Skilled metal workers - branch of study: assembly technology as well as
Skilled metal workers - branch of study: forming and wire technology
Branch of study: assembly technology
These workers mount component parts or component assemblies resulting in machines or entire products.
Branch of study: forming and wire technology
These workers build wire or other metal products by forming.
Graduation: There is no regulatory framework requiring a special education. Companies mostly employ trainees that have achieved the certificate of secondary education ("Hauptschulabschluss").
Type of occupation: recognized occupation requiring formal training
Type of training: dual training in industrial plants in the Baden-Wuerttemberg region.
Duration of training: 2 years
Places of training: training company and vocational school (dual training)
The lessons are held in so-called lesson blocks ("Blockunterricht"; also see "Blockplan"). There is a theoretical part as well as a practical part. The first training year ends with the final exam part I, the second training year is completed with the final exam part II.
Pupils/students living at a far distance from the school have the possibility to be accommodated in a hostel incorporated into the school.
